North India and Varanasi

DAY 01 : ARRIVAL DELHI
Assistance upon arrival at Delhi International airport followed by transfer to the hotel. Upon arrival check in the hotel. Overnight at the Hotel.

DAY 02 : DELHI
After breakfast tour briefing by India Insight staff followed by full day city tour of Old & New Delhi. In addition to its Historic interest and role as the Government center, Delhi is a major travel gateway. It is one of India’s busiest entrance points for overseas airlines, the hub of the North Indian travel network and a stop on the overland route across Asia. Places to visit are  Red Fort (Closed on Monday), Raj Ghat, Jama Masjid, India Gate, Qutub Minar, Humayun’s Tomb.  Drive past the Government building lining the Jan path. Evening return to hotel. Overnight at hotel.



DAY 03 : DELHI / MANDAWA
DISTANCE: 242 KMS. DRIVING TIME: 05HRS 30MINS APPRX 
After breakfast drive to Mandawa. It is located in the heart of the shekhawati region of Rajasthan and is known for its frescos and paintings. The initial part of the drive is through the typical Indian villages. Upon arrival check into hotel.  Afternoon walk around the colorful villages dotted with its colorful shops selling a wide variety of things. Overnight at the Hotel. 


DAY 04 :  MANDAWA / BIKANER
DISTANCE: - 192 KMS. DRIVING TIME: - 04 HRS 30 MINS
After breakfast commence drive to Bikaner. Upon arrival check in to the hotel. In the afternoon visits of Bikaner. Places of visit are  Junagarh Fort(Chandra Mahal (Moon Palace & Phool Mahal (Flower Palace),  Camel Breeding form,  Karni Mata Temple. Overnight at the Hotel.

DAY 05 : BIKANER / KOLAYAT / JAISALMER 
BIKANER / KOLAYAT: 57 KMS. DRIVING TIME: - APPRX. 01 HR 30MINS
KOLAYAT / JAISALMER: 283 KMS. DRIVING TIME: - APPRX. 06 HRS
After breakfast commence drive to Jaisalmer. Enroute visit Kolayat. After visit continues drive to Jaisalmer, "island in the sand", as it is also known. Rawal Jaisal in 1156 founded it. Lying at the extreme edge of Rajasthan, Jaisalmer is a tiny jewel in the heart of the tar, the Great Indian Desert. Once the capital of the Bhati Rajputs, the medieval city rises in a sea of sand on a low range of hills surrounded by a stone wall three miles around- a towering vision in delicate yellow hue-only infrequently broken by green oasis. On arrival check into hotel.  Evening explore around this magnificent fort city. Overnight at the Hotel.

DAY 06 : JAISALMER
After breakfast half day city tour can be commenced of Jaisalmer. There are places to visit like:   Gadisagar lake, Jaisalmer fort which has numerous Jain temples and Palaces, Nathmal Haveli, Patwa Haveli. Evening drive to Sam dunes & visit the sand dunes. Overnight at the Hotel.

DAY 07 : JAISALMER / OSIAN / JODHPUR 
JAISALMER / OSIAN DISTANCE: 222 KMS. DRIVING TIME: 05 HRS 30 MINS
OSIAN / JODHPUR DISTANCE: 62 KMS. DRIVING TIME: APPRX. 02 HRS
After breakfast drive to Jodhpur.  Enroute visit of Osian. Places to visit are the Jain temples. After visit continue drive to Jodhpur, once the capital of the state Marwar. Jodhpur is built tumbling down a low sandstone hill, right on the edge of the great Thar Desert. On arrival, check into hotel.  Evening is free for leisure. Overnight at hotel.

DAY 08 : JODHPUR
After breakfast half day city tour of Jodhpur. Places to visit are  Mehrangarh Fort,  Jaswant Thada,  Ummaid Bhawan Palace. After visit return back to hotel & overnight at hotel. 

DAY 09 : JODHPUR / RANAKPUR / UDAIPUR
DISTANCE: JODHPUR / RANAKPUR: 175 KMS DRIVING TIME: 04 HRS.
RANAKPUR / UDAIPUR: 87 KMS DRIVING TIME: 02 HRS 30 MINS
After breakfast drive to Udaipur.  Enroute visit of Ranakpur - At the noon time visit these temples. It is famous for Jain Temples at Ranakpur. These temples are dedicated to Adinath and date back to the beginning of 15th century…Made up of 29 halls supported by 200 different pillars, this temple has 20 domes which constitute the complex roofing. After visit drive to Udaipur. Upon arrival check in to the hotel. Overnight at the Hotel.

DAY 10 : UDAIPUR
After breakfast, half day city tour, Places of visits include  The Maharana’s City Palace standing on the edge of the lake Pichola,  The Sahelion ki Bari is a good example of the art of landscaping,  Afternoon enjoy boat ride on seat basis on Lake Pichola and visit Jag Mandir while having the boat ride. Overnight at the Hotel.

DAY 11 : UDAIPUR / JAIPUR (FLIGHT)
After breakfast provide assisted departure transfer to the airport to connect the flight for Jaipur. Jaipur the capital of Rajasthan still looks cradled and well protected. Jaipur takes its name from maharaja jai Singh, who in the early 1700s became the king of amber at the age of 13. He soon added architect and astronomy to his credentials. He designed the bulk of his new capital, with its exquisite buildings of rose colored terra cotta, thus giving it the name of "the pink city" with pink and orange the dominant colors, the effect is magic at dusk. In Jaipur, assistance on arrival at the airport followed by straight drive to Amber Fort.  Drive to amber fort. Enjoy an elephant ride while going up the fort. In the afternoon, check in to the hotel. (NORMAL CHECK IN AT 1400 HRS). Later in the evening have a half day city tour of Jaipur. Places to visit include:  City Palace,  Jantar Mantar,  Hawa Mahal (From out side only). Overnight at the Hotel.

DAY 12 : JAIPUR / SAMODE
DISTANCE: 30 KMS DRIVING TIME: 1 HRS
After Breakfast drive to Samode. In Samode you can see the rural life and flavors of Rajasthan, Samode is quite close to Jaipur and is a perfect place to spend one's holidays. It is a place of great interest for people who appreciate culture and local arts. The village or town is famous for its Culture and the mud made houses. Overnight at the Palace. 

DAY 13 : SAMODE / KALAKHO / FATEHPUR SIKRI / AGRA
DISTANCE: 270 KMS DRIVING TIME: 5 HRS
After breakfast, drive to Agra.  Enroute visit of Kalakho – Enjoy jeep Safari in Kalakho to visit the local Meena tribes. From here continue your drive to Agra.  Enroute visit of Fatehpur Sikri – also known as the ghost city. After visits continue drive to Agra. Upon arrival check in to the hotel. Overnight at the hotel.

DAY 14 : AGRA
Agra is famous for being home to one of the Seven Wonders of the World-Taj Mahal. Agra was once the capital of Mughal Empire and even today it seems to linger in the past. Not surprising, for the Mughal Emperors with their passion of building, endowed the city with some of the finest structure of the world. It is very easy to slip away here into the grandeur and intrigues of the Mughal court.  Early morning visit of Taj Mahal – the monument of Love. (TAJ MAHAL REMAINS CLOSED ON EVERY FRIDAY). After visit return back to the hotel for breakfast. After breakfast half day city tour of Agra. Places of visit are:  The red fort,  The Itmad-ul-daulah,  Sikandra. Overnight at the Hotel.

DAY 15 : AGRA / JHANSI (TRAIN) / ORCHHA / KHAJURAHO
JHANSI / ORCHHA: DISTANCE: - 16 KMS. DRIVING TIME: - APPRX. 30 MINUTES
ORCHHA / KHAJURAHO: DISTANCE: - 178 KMS. DRIVING TIME: - APPRX. 03½ HRS
Early morning, assisted departure transfer to the railway station to board the Shatabdi Express for Jhansi, In Jhansi, assistance on arrival followed by the drive to Khajuraho. Enroute visit of Orchha. The medieval township of Orchha has hardly been touched by the hand of time. Lying 120 Kms from Gwalior on the road of Khajuraho, Orchha is famous for its palace & temples, built in the 17th and 18th centuries. Visit:  The Chaturbhuj, Janaki, Laxmi, Raja Ram Mandir etc. After visits continue drive to Khajuraho. Upon arrival check into the hotel. Overnight at the Hotel.

DAY 16 : KHAJURAHO / VARANASI (OVERNIGHT TRAIN)
After breakfast, full day city tour of Khajuraho.  Eastern & Western group of Temples. Later in the evening provide assisted departure transfer to the Satna railway station to board the train for Varanasi. Overnight in the train..


DAY 17 : ARRIVAL VARANASI
Assistance on arrival at the railway station followed by transfer to the hotel. Upon arrival check in to the hotel. After breakfast, morning is at leisure. Later in the afternoon, half day city tour of Varanasi. Places to visit are:  The Dasashwamedh Ghat (main Ghat), Kashi Vishwanath temple, Gyanvapi Mosque (Alamgir Mosque), Evening AARTI tour with boat ride on river Ganges. Later Old City and Evening AARTI Tour -One can drive to the old city by Car and Take a late afternoon walk in the Old City, walking through the famous narrow lanes and view the Golden Temple from out side proceed to the Burning Ghat and take a Boat to view the sunset Aarti Puja from the Ganges River itself from 6:30 to 7:30 PM. Return to hotel after walking back through the old city which is by now lighted up board then take a rickshaw back to the Taxi stand and return back to hotel for Overnight at Hotel. 

DAY 18 : VARANASI
Early morning Boat ride on the river Ganges. After Boat Ride return back to your hotel for Breakfast. After breakfast morning is at leisure. Later in the afternoon excursion of Sarnath. Just 13 kilometers from Varanasi is Isipathana, now called Sarnath, the deer park where the Buddha first proclaimed the Dhamma to the world. He taught two discourses here, the Dhammacakkhapavathana Stupa and the profound Anattalakhana Stupa. Both discourses are in the booklet Three Cardinal Discourses of the Buddha, Wheel No 17. Set in well maintained gardens Sarnath's ruins are a pleasant place to stroll amongst or meditate in. The main things to see are:  Asoka's pillar, the ruins of the Mulagandhakuti, Dharmek Stupa.  Further to the east is the modern Mulagandhakuti Vihara with its beautiful wall paintings and behind it the Deer Park.  Overnight at the Hotel. 

DAY 19 :  VARANASI / DELHI (FLIGHT)
After breakfast, morning is free. Later provide in time assisted departure transfer to the airport to connect the flight for Delhi. In Delhi, assistance on arrival at the airport followed by transfer to the local restaurant for farewell dinner on fixed menu / buffet basis (without drinks). After dinner provide assisted departure transfer to the International airport to connect the flight for onwards journey. (NO VEHICLE AT CLIENT’S DISPOSAL IN DELHI AND VARANASI).
